DeCola Salon Wins Top 200 Salon in the US

We couldn’t be more excited to be honored as a Top 200 Salon in 2021 by SALON TODAY. SALON TODAY was created just for salon/spa owners, to share ideas and practices to help salons and spas of all sizes grow to top-level greatness. They are the only industry media to focus strictly on the business aspect of salons/spas. For 25 years, they have been offering business advice, salon design, leadership, compensation, marketing, and personnel development. View our feature in the latest digital issue of Salon Today's magazine here.

The 2021 honorees were announced during the SALON TODAY 200 Virtual Watch Party. The event named the 2021 honorees, gave the SALON TODAY audience a first look at this year’s cover, connected viewers to the online stories where they could read the profiles of all honorees, and showcased creative survival strategies they developed during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting salon shutdowns.

The magazine’s 24th annual SALON TODAY 200 issue profiles the selected salons in its Spring 2021 edition. The 200 salons were honored for their best business-building ideas in 2019 and their survival strategies for 2020, which were gathered from applications submitted by the SALON TODAY audience, who represent the 20,000 top-producing salons and spas in the country.

This was an incredible achievement for DeCola Salon. We are honored to be recognized by SALON TODAY. We couldn’t have done this without the support of our clients, not just this past year but all the years prior. Also, our team members, who constantly strive to do and be their best. Let’s not forget our fearless leader Lou, who is our constant guidance, treats us like family, and always reminds us “positive things happen to positive people”.

Balayage at DeCola Salon by Jackie Hashem

Hi! My name is Jackie Hashem, I am a Tier 3 stylist at DeCola Salon in Exton, PA. I’ve been a hairstylist since 2005. I have experience with doing all different techniques and styles of hair, but my true passion and specialty is balayage. I have taken numerous classes to further my education on everything and anything pertaining to balayage.

A lot of people think that balayage is a style, but it is actually a technique. The word balayage originates from the French term “to sweep”. There are a lot of misconceptions that balayage means blonde hair, but the full definition is a technique for highlighting hair in which the dye is painted on in such a way as to create a graduated natural-looking effect. Here is a balayage I did on my brunette client.

I love balayage for many reasons. No two heads of hair are the same, just like your fingerprint. It requires you to think outside the box with every client and challenges me, which I enjoy. Balayage allows the hair to grow out seamlessly, which allows longevity. Typically, I see my balayage clients every 10-12 weeks but again, it depends on the look they are aiming for. I like to play off the client’s natural hair for their dimension. Another interesting fact is that balayage processes in the open air at room temperature, which is less damaging than a traditional foil. I use Framar color brushes, but I also like to use a 2-inch chip paintbrush that you can get at a hardware store. A great styling product I love to use when styling my balayage clients is Oribe Imperial Blowout Transformation Styling Creme. It really makes the hair feel healthier and younger after just one use.

Find out if you are the right fit for a balayage by booking a consultation. Our website offers consultation appointments via online booking or call us at 610-363-9554. Also, check out my gallery of balayage on my Instagram or visit our TikTok for my latest brunette balayage.
