DeCola Salon, owned by Lou DeCola, recently was named to the SALON TODAY 200 by SALON TODAY, the leading business media for salon and spa owners. In its 25th year, the SALON TODAY 200 is a landmark competition that gathers data on industry performance, creates a forum for owners to share best business practices, and celebrates salons for their business acumen.

After two very tough years for small businesses, this year’s competition focused on business recovery in 2021 and rebuilding efforts for 2022. The Top 200 salons were selected from applications submitted by the SALON TODAY audience, who represent more than 20,000 of the top-producing salons and spas in North America.

Lou DeCola was featured in the Top 200 magazine issue highlighting the new Employee Assistance Program (EAP) he has implemented. The EAP offers confidential mental health assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to all salon employees who have personal or work-related problems. The program was further emphasized in another Salon Today article, Staff Well Being Defines a Culture.

This year, the Top 200 honorees celebrated in Nashville at an awards dinner during Data-Driven Salon Summit, a peer-driven, hands-on experience that provides insight on data benchmarks and best practices to help salons identify new business opportunities. Lou and his wife, Shanna, attended the event.

"My team works very hard not only to provide superior customer service and satisfaction, but also to couple that with industry trends and continued education. Our work does not live solely behind the chair," said Lou DeCola. "DeCola Salon will never stop learning and evolving and I am so grateful to have a team that embraces these philosophies. Being named a Top 200 salon for the second year in a row is a testament to just how dedicated and talented my team is."

Samantha here! I am a makeup artist at DeCola Salon and I wanted to check in to let you all in on a little secret! DeCola Salon is pleased to announce that we have officially welcomed Scott Barnes Cosmetics for purchase!

For those who do not know, Scott created his brand from the ground up. He realized there was a “serious lack of affordable luxury makeup on the market, that allowed everyone to obtain the highest level of quality they deserve.”

One of Scott’s mantras is “Makeup is about empowering women.” I couldn’t agree more! I thoroughly enjoy making women feel confident while in my chair and long after they leave. You can purchase Scott Barnes Cosmetics through our website as well as in the salon. Whether you have a special event or you just want to feel glamorous, I am here to help! Stop in for a makeup consultation or make an appointment with me for your event through our website or call 610-363-9554. Check out my Instagram here for inspiration pictures!

Hi, my name is Donna, and I am a Tier 3 Stylist at DeCola Salon. I want to take the time to talk to everyone about salon-grade retail products. If you are spending money to cut and color your hair, purchasing high-quality hair products will keep your style at its best. Salon’s finest retail products typically have a higher price point. Which can tend to make clients apprehensive to buy. And trust me, I get it. I, myself have used store-bought shampoos and conditioners out of convenience, only to find an outcome that's below standard for my professionally color-treated, dry, frizzy hair. There are many reasons salon-grade products are ideal, but I want to highlight (no pun intended) my top two reasons.

It is all about ingredients! Salon hair products are made with ingredients not typically found in stores; high-quality ingredients with no parabens, sulfates, or mineral oils, along with being cruelty-free and vegan. The saying “less is more” is very true for salon products- they have a higher concentration in them that allows you to use less of the product during use. Since you are using less product (which is also less waste), adding more water to the hair will result in a better lather.

Another reason why salon products are worth the purchase is to support small and local businesses that provide quality product assurance. When purchasing from 3rd party vendors whether online or in-store, it's never guaranteed that the product is not expired, watered down, or tampered with. Salons stand behind their products and are backed by the salon's distributors and manufacturers.

I love many of the products that we offer at DeCola Salon, but my favorite is F18 Violet Toning Shampoo. This shampoo helps eliminate yellow or orange tones from blonde hair. I also need to give a shout-out to pretty much the entire line of R&CO products, I can not just choose one...I love them all!

We offer product discounts when purchased during the time of service at DeCola Salon. This way, you can get your products right away for your fresh, new hair and don’t have to wait for delivery. Also, we have a wide variety of quality products for every price point to fit your budget. You can purchase all of our products via our website for curbside pickup.

As a hairstylist, my job is to know all of my clients' hair very well. During every appointment, I use products that are best suited for your hair. You can check out my Instagram Here. At DeCola Salon, we care about your hair and would never offer a product we don’t believe will benefit your hair. We love our craft, which means we love your hair.
